Conference Professional Discipline and Regulation Conference 2018

Overview

Agenda coming soon!

The recent Supreme Court decision in Ivey has once again cast a light on the perennial issue of dishonesty in regulatory proceedings. Our illustrious panel, featuring many of the leading lights in the professional discipline and regulatory sector, will be providing an update on all recent and important professional disciplinary case law, with a particular focus on dishonesty v integrity and how this impacts at the sanction stage.

We will also examine legislative changes in various regulatory sectors and look at how the obligations of confidentiality/privilege owed to third parties can be reconciled with the public interest in the regulation/discipline of a profession, particularly with the advent of new data protection rules; and in an age of seemingly ubiquitous social media, we ask what role one’s private life and conduct should play in professional disciplinary proceedings. Join us for what promises to be a lively, informative and topical event.
