Course Employment Law 2017 Update (6 Hours)

Overview

This course will focus on the last 12 months.

There is not much to report on the legislation front but there is a nasty sting in the tail for employers re zero hour’s workers.

There is the next round in Nolan from the Supreme Court.

There are a number of recent important decisions of the Court of Appeal re discrimination including the most recent in Naeem and Griffiths.

Over the last 3 months alone the EAT have involved themselves in:

  • Working time and holidays
  • Discrimination - Can a Limited Company bring a claim? - Post termination discrimination - Unfavourable treatment and, in the case of disability the relationship with reasonable adjustments - Indirect Age Discrimination
  • Unfair Dismissal - Repudiatory breach of contract - The vice of substitution and disparity - Employment Tribunals and the obligation to give reasons - Amendments and pre-claim conciliation - S218 and associated employers
  • TUPE - tasks of short term duration and employed immediately before the transfer
This course will look in depth at all these decisions and much more and is a must for busy practitioners trying to stay up to date. By the time of the course we may also have the EAT’s decision in Lock v British Gas.
