Course Child Safeguarding: An Introduction

Overviewnew

Safeguarding Children Boards currently coordinate local work to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and to ensure the effectiveness of the actions of member organisations, individually and together. They are soon to be replaced by Multi-Agency Safeguarding Arrangements (MASA). If you work within the field of child protection it is essential that you understand fully the role and responsibilities of LSCB and MASA.

The course will also cover local and national Serious Case Review and highlight the lessons for improved practice which they contain. In addition, the course will look at the multi-agency arrangements which exist to ensure vulnerable adults are effectively safeguarded.

Topics covered include:

  • Working Together 2018 – the changes in the new guidance
  • The future for Local Safeguarding Children Boards
  • Multi-Agency Safeguarding Arrangements – all you need to know
  • Key lessons from Serious Case Reviews and Serious Incident Learning Reviews
  • The new arrangements for conducting Serious Case Reviews
  • The new CDOP arrangements
  • Inspection arrangements – getting ready for Joint Targeted Area Inspections
  • Safeguarding adults – where are we now?

You may also be interested in attending Adoption Law and Practice Update 2018 which takes place at the same venue in the morning.
