This course will provide an introduction to copyright, what it is and how long it applies, whilst focussing on its application to print and digital materials created, used and shared in and between organisations. It aims to give those with little or no experience in copyright, the knowledge and resources needed to understand this vitally important and ever-evolving area. The course is delivered by Naomi Korn, a copyright and compliance specialist and regular trainer on the subject.
The course will be of value to solicitors working in-house or in private practice whose work touches on content of any kind, who advise organisations and individuals on protecting/exploiting their intellectual property rights or who are simply curious about how this area is developing. The course will use group work, interactive learning techniques and discussions to present and delve into the issues.
Key topics will include the exceptions to copyright, seeking copyright permissions and the role of licences. Attending the course will give you an understanding of:
- Copyright and its application
- Creative Commons Licences
- How to use content for free, freely and in compliance with licensing provision
- How to use digital content supplied under licence
