On 3rd July 2016, the EU’s Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) repealed and replaced the Market Abuse Directive (MAD I). MAR is part of the EU’s move from MAD I to “MAD II” although, unlike other member states, the UK has not adopted the other part of MAD II: the Directive on Criminal Sanctions for Market Abuse. MAR is also closely linked to MiFID II (the Market in Financial Instruments Directive II), due to be implemented in 2018.
This half-day course will provide a plain English overview of three key areas of MAR:
As part of the course, delegates will receive course notes summarising key aspects of the new regime (including the FCA Handbook changes, AIM Rule changes, ESMA guidelines, technical standards) and will discuss the practical implementation of the new rules with reference to the FCA’s approach.
This course will be useful to corporate solicitors and company secretaries who act (regularly or occasionally) for companies listed on the Main Market and AIM as well as directors of such companies.
