The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge of the sentencing provisions for young people and to understand how it is applied in practice in the Youth and Crown Courts.
Delegates attending this course will be better equipped to represent young clients in the criminal courts by understanding the sentencing framework as laid out in the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 as amended by the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012.
By the examination of case studies, delegates will be able to have a practical understanding of how the legislation has been applied.
Hakan Pettersson is part of the Youth Offenders Team at Leeds Youth Court and brings first-hand knowledge working knowledge of this area to delegates.
