Mark Cardale writes and lectures on a variety of corporate and charity governance and related corporate law topics. He is the current editor of Sweet & Maxwell’s Practical Guide to Corporate Governance and author of a chapter on the Market Abuse Regulation in Butterworths Financial Regulation Service; and is an external examiner for the MSc course in Corporate Governance at London South Bank University.
He formerly practised as a corporate/corporate finance lawyer, working for many years with Slaughter and May. He acquired an interest in corporate governance while head of the firm’s then New York office during the era of Enron and other corporate accounting scandals in the US.
He later worked on a project concerned with the insurance coverage of Enron’s bankers, became a partner in the firm of Kerman & Co LLP and co-head of their AIM group, and qualified as a Chartered Secretary.
He was for several years a trustee of the charity Friends of the Elderly and is now on the board of Dr Johnson’s House Trust.
