The SRA Handbook introduced the roles of COLP and COFA as one of the key elements of its revised 'outcomes-focused' regime. This presentation provides a timely review of the requirements of both roles and examines some of the key responsibilities. With the SRA continuing to refuse to provide specific guidance on what it regards as a 'material breach' what are the sorts of issues that might arise that will need to be recorded and possibly reported to the SRA? More generally, how can the COLP and COFA know whether what they are doing will satisfy the SRA requirements of the roles? With an eye to the future and changes to the SRA Handbook in the pipeline, what should the COLP and COFA be doing to prepare for this? Equally helpful for newly appointed reporting officers and those in place since the regime was first introduced in 2013.
