Webinar Caveat Emptor - The Old Chestnut - On-Demand Webinar

Overview

The case of Hardy v Griffiths reminds us that even the most seemingly experienced buyers sometimes get it wrong! It is standard advice on a property purchase for the buyer to obtain a survey. The case illustrates the potential problems if no survey is carried out. The webinar will highlight the importance of ensuring that our clients understand the implications of the different types of survey available at the outset of a purchase. This webinar will act as a useful reminder of the risks in this area for the more experienced practitioner and a useful introduction to survey types for the novice

The webinar will cover:

  • Key types of survey
  • Risk of not having a survey done
  • Hardy v Griffiths (2014): risks for the client and their adviser
  • A reminder of misrepresentation as it arose in Hardy v Griffiths
  • What advice should solicitors give?
  • Risk management
  • CML requirements
