Webinar 'Good Work' - The Taylor Review of Employment Rights Webinar (On-Demand)

Overview

The Taylor Review, commissioned by the Prime Minister, ranges far and wide in its proposals to reform employment rights.

This webinar examines what the proposals mean in practice. What are their implications? How likely are the various reforms to see the light of day? What impact will they have if and when they do?

Among the reforms are:

  • Amending the legislation defining employees and workers
  • Changing the criteria for worker status
  • Extending the entitlement to a written statement of terms and conditions
  • Increasing the rate of the National Minimum Wage for hours not guaranteed by the employer
  • Increasing the reference period for holiday pay and allowing it to be paid on a ‘rolled up’ basis
  • Giving increased rights to agency workers and those on zero hours contracts
  • Allowing claimants to have their employment status defined by an Employment Tribunal without paying a fee
  • Relaxing the rules on continuity of employment
  • Placing the burden on the employer to prove that a claimant is not an employee (or a worker, as applicable)
  • Giving individuals the right to return to work after long-term sickness absence
The webinar will deal with these and the other main reforms recommended. It will be relevant to all who advise both employers, employees or workers, and wish to be briefed on what the future holds.
