This webinar is one of a series aimed at the junior lawyer whose caseload will feature the business security of tenure regime under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954. It will also serve as a refresher for the more experienced lawyer.
The 1954 Act entitles the tenant to a new tenancy, but what terms should it contain? Do the parties simply begin with a blank sheet of paper? The Act gives only limited guidance on the terms the court should determine for the new lease, and much more of the applicable law derives from decided cases. It’s vital to be familiar with them, as what the court might do will naturally determine the ground rules for the parties’ negotiations. Knowledge is power, in lease renewal negotiations.
